Top 10 retro images of Paris

Paris.. je t’aime!

That is all I can say when I think of Paris, Paris the most romantic city in the world.  Well, I must admit, I have never had a Parisian love affair, never fallen in love with a Parisian and I have not even enjoyed a romantic trip to Paris. However, Paris means love to me. I am simply in love with Paris.

From the moment I step out of the train station I can’t help feeling excited and even nervous. Paris has something about I can’t define…

I am originally from the South of France where everything is just pretty, picturesque an friendly… so far away from the city rush, traffic pollution and, sometimes, not so friendly people of Paris. But I learnt to like Paris with time turning this early age admiration into a real and uncontrollable passion! The more I learnt about History, architecture and culture the more I saw Paris as the ultimate place in the entire universe.

The essence of Paris is, to me, the stories behind the scene. Let’s be honest, what makes Paris the most visited city in the whole world? Paris doesn’t offer the greatest weather, it is not the cheapest city in Europe and it has not exactly what people look for in a romantic trip like luxurious cheap accommodation, hassle free experiences and relaxing activities, it is not even surrounded my magnificent sea or mountain views (oups excuse my straight forward French honesty). Paris doesn’t offer any of that.. but Paris has it all!

Paris has the allure. Paris is elegance, is savoir vivre and has this je ne sais quoi we can’t resist.

Yes, Paris has culture: it has the most beautiful and rich architecture in Europe and the widest choice of museums in the world. But, Paris is also a myth, an ideal that transforms the smallest details, like a cup of espresso on a terrace, into poetry. People walking in the streets, suddenly becomes an iconic scene of the latest Woody Allen’s romantic movie. Even the rain brings romanticism! Everything you see in Paris is beauty, is nostalgia, is retro… thanks to our pre-conceived perception of the Capitale de l’Amour.

On my last trip to Paris I did what I love the most doing (a part from shopping): walk around, smell the bohemian yet elegant air, have a glass of wine on a busy, and mediocre, around-the-corner bistro.. and take photos! And the more I spend time in Paris the more I realize there is so much to be discovered, to be fully explored.. ah la la…

These are my retro pictures I took while enjoying some free time in the French capital:
