After a truly magical evening at the Corinthia 5 star Hotel in London for diner, I felt I had to share my experience with you!
Being French I think it is in my genes to love good food, so I did not feel guilty the day I realized fine dining had become one of my biggest hobbies in life. However, I do not believe fine dining means expensive restaurants, pretentious 7 lines complicated dish names or even awards or Michelin stars. From my personal perspective, fine dining is the result of a combination of quality ingredients, creativity, savoir-faire, service and atmosphere. And that is exactly what the Norhthall offered me last night.
First, the Hotel itself is grandiose: located next to Embankment and opposite the Play House theater, The 5 star Corinthia has nothing to envy to the most prestigious and world-wide renowned palaces in London or Paris. The fairy tale starts from the moment the well-dressed porters open the front doors for you an inviting you to the most appealing luxurious hall. The decor of the hotel is a pure delight as it marries to perfection modernity to historical shapes. It is spacious, inviting and detail to perfection seems to be an obsession! What I really appreciated from my short walk around through the communal areas was the relaxed ambiance where no stuff would ask you over and over if you wished something or if you needed help. After admiring the well-appointed Harrod’s boutique, the reading room, the cocktail piano bar, the sublime bistro restaurant.. and commenting over and over how much I loved every single of my discoveries, I eventually discovered the main bar area where I enjoyed a fresh glass of French white wine accompanied by decadent complimentary nuts.
If you are around Embankment or Trafalgar Square and even if you do not go for diner, I would recommend you to stop for a drink at the Corinthia 5 star Hotel; both bars are a best-kept secret in town for drinks. Don’t be pull off by the pomposity of the exterior and doormen, the stuff and ambiance is more than chilled and relaxed and I can guarantee you won’t regret your choice. Also you can enjoy a glass of great wine from France for £6.
Once walked in the Northall restaurant (through an area where you can discover the open plan kitchen and freshly baked rustic bread loafs) I discovered the restaurant’s decor.. well, it is not a large ball-room style area like the Ritz, the Homage at the Waldorf, to name two, but it has something very special that feels opulent. As I mentioned earlier, the decoration is classy, clean, modern yet palace orientated. The light is very special: high ceilings open to enormous windows and that is quite rare to find in fine dining restaurants. Everything feels exclusive at the Northall from the seats, to the glasses, to the service to the.. toilets! Now, I must confess a secret to you… I booked a star deal from a third party website.. just to give it a risk-free try. But, the truth is, you don’t even need to look for deals as the restaurant has the same exact fixed price menus (lunch & evening) and that includes a glass of Laurent-Perrier Champagne.. parfait!
So, if you are looking for a romantic surprise, for a birthday celebration or, simply, for a really good restaurant with a wow-factor on top, the Northall at the Corinthia is my recommendation to you. Decor, top-notch food, service.. and price! To me, one of the best dinig experiences I had this year. Bon appetit mes amis!
Share the love and I hope you enjoy a unique luxury dining experience at the Northall restaurant like I did!
